Something Familiar": A Tale of Discovery and Connection in the World of Film

Stranger Films Sales has recently acquired the world rights, excluding Romania and the UK, for the upcoming film "Something Familiar" by Rachel Taparjan. The film, set to premiere at CPH:DOX, follows a filmmaker assisting a woman in her quest to find her birth mother, leading to revelations about the filmmaker's own family history. Produced by Manifest Film in Romania and My Accomplice in the UK, the film has garnered support from various film funds and won the Chicken & Egg Vision Award at Cannes Docs.

Tijana Djukic, head of sales and acquisitions at Stranger Films Sales, praised the film for its powerful and honest portrayal of personal stories. Director Rachel Taparjan, a senior lecturer in social work, expressed her journey of self-discovery through filmmaking, turning adversity into adventure and offering a fresh perspective on familiar experiences.

Stranger Films Sales, currently in Berlin, is also handling Alisa Kovalenko's Panorama title "Traces." The acquisition of "Something Familiar" adds to their diverse portfolio of compelling and thought-provoking films.
