Emerging Stars: USC Trojans' Rising Talent in 2025

Heading into the 2025 season, the USC Trojans had their top two receivers set with Makai Lemon and Ja’Kobi Lane. The question was who would emerge as the third option. True freshman Tanook Hines, who joined the team in the summer, quickly caught the attention of the coaching staff and veterans. Hines impressed during fall camp and earned a starting spot for the season opener. As the season progressed, Hines became more comfortable in the offense, showcasing his skills with standout performances against Notre Dame and Oregon. In the Alamo Bowl, with Lemon and Lane absent, Hines shined, becoming the go-to target for quarterback Jayden Maiava.
Hines finished the season as the team's third-leading receiver, demonstrating his potential to step into a WR1 role. On the other hand, Waymond Jordan, a former top-ranked JUCO running back, seamlessly transitioned to major college football, becoming the Trojans' primary tailback. Unfortunately, an ankle injury cut his season short, but in the games he played, Jordan showcased his talent, rushing for over 500 yards and scoring five touchdowns. In his absence, King Miller, a walk-on, stepped up and contributed significantly to the team's success, nearly reaching the 1,000-yard mark and scoring eight touchdowns. The Trojans' running game remained strong despite the injuries, thanks to Miller's emergence.
Looking ahead, USC has promising talent in Hines and Miller, who have shown their ability to make an impact on the field. With Hines' breakout performances and Miller's impressive contributions, the Trojans have a solid foundation for the upcoming seasons. The team's depth at the receiver and running back positions bodes well for their future success under the leadership of head coach Lincoln Riley. USC fans can look forward to an exciting and competitive team with Hines and Miller leading the way.
