Tragic Double Homicide in Ocala: Man Kills Wife and Stepdaughter Before Taking His Own Life

A tragic incident unfolded in Ocala as a man killed his wife and her four-year-old daughter before taking his own life. The Ocala Police Department responded to the Marion Springs Condominiums after receiving reports of the double homicide. The victims were identified as 34-year-old Nancy Bacon and her daughter, Eden. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect, Ralph Bacon, leaving the scene in a dark SUV with North Carolina plates.
Authorities tracked Bacon's whereabouts as he traveled northbound on Interstate 95 towards the Florida/Georgia border. He was eventually located and pulled over by a police department in Georgia, where he tragically took his own life. Chief Mike Balken described the relationship between the Bacons as "challenging," with an "on again, off again" dynamic that had recently seen them reconciling around the holidays.
Balken emphasized that there were no prior signs of violence in the relationship and that the child was not Bacon's biological daughter, which had reportedly been a point of contention. The tragic incident adds to a string of homicides in Ocala since Christmas Day, including the shooting of a 21-year-old father and a random act of violence that claimed the life of a 64-year-old man. The community is left reeling from these senseless acts of violence.
