Michael Bay Sues Cadillac Over Broken Promises: Alleges Idea Theft and Breach of Contract

Action film director Michael Bay has filed a lawsuit against Cadillac, claiming that he was promised to direct a Super Bowl commercial for the brand's new F1 racing team but was later replaced and his ideas allegedly stolen. Bay alleges that Cadillac's owner, Dan Towriss, approached him to create the commercial, citing him as "the most American director" for the job. Despite putting other projects on hold to work on the rushed project, Bay claims he was abruptly replaced midway through production, with his ideas allegedly used without compensation.
Bay's lawsuit includes details of his interactions with Towriss and the agency, where he shared ideas and concepts for the commercial, including references to his previous work in films like Transformers and Armageddon. He claims that he and his team worked tirelessly to prepare for the production, only to be replaced before filming began. Bay is seeking compensatory and punitive damages totaling $1.5 million for breach of contract, fraud, and the unauthorized use of his ideas in the commercial.
