A Houston doctor is facing federal charges for allegedly altering medical records to disqualify potential organ transplant recipients, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. John Stevenson Bynon Jr., 66, surrendered to federal authorities on five counts of making false statements in health care matters. Bynon, the former director of abdominal organ transplantation at Memorial Hermann Health System, is accused of making patients on the liver transplant waitlist ineligible for donations. The DOJ stated that some patients suffered dire health consequences due to Bynon's actions.
The Department of Justice accused Dr. Bynon of manipulating medical records to render patients ineligible for organ transplants, endangering lives and compromising the healthcare system's integrity.
