2026 Grammy Awards: Who's Skipping the Show and Why?

The 2026 Grammy Awards are currently underway, with numerous celebrities gracing the red carpet. While big names like Bad Bunny, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Kendrick Lamar are expected to attend, some stars have chosen to skip the event this year.

Gracie, who received Grammy nominations in 2024 and 2025, decided to sit out this year after not receiving nods for her song "That's So True." Role Model, despite the success of "Sally, When the Wine Runs Out," also opted out due to zero nominations. The Weeknd, a four-time Grammy winner, was absent as neither his album "Hurry Up Tomorrow" nor his collaboration with Playboi Carti received nominations.

Lorde, who did not receive recognition for her album "Virgin," chose not to attend the ceremony. Beyoncé, who won Album of the Year last year, did not qualify for this year's awards and decided to skip the show. Taylor Swift, not nominated this year and reportedly busy with wedding planning, was also missing from the event.

Margaret, despite being on the seating chart, did not walk the red carpet. Ariana Grande, who won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, did not attend the show. Cynthia Erivo, her collaborator on "Defying Gravity," was also absent as she is involved in other projects, including a one-woman production of Dracula in London.

Timothée Chalamet, nominated for the first time, skipped the show to participate in a Q&A in the U.K. and won Actor of the Year at the London Critics' Circle Theatre Awards. Kylie Jenner, often seen with Chalamet, was also not present at the Grammy Awards.
