2026 Grammy Awards: Notable Absences and Surprises on the Red Carpet

The 2026 Grammy Awards are currently underway, with a star-studded red carpet featuring celebrities like Chappell Roan, Bad Bunny, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Kendrick Lamar. However, some notable celebrities are notably absent from the event this year.

Gracie, who received Grammy nominations in 2024 and 2025, did not receive any nods for her song "That's So True" this year, leading her to skip the ceremony. Role Model, despite the success of "Sally, When the Wine Runs Out," also did not receive any nominations, explaining their absence.

The Weeknd, a four-time Grammy winner, did not attend this year's ceremony as his album "Hurry Up Tomorrow" and collaboration with Playboi Carti, "Timeless," did not receive any nominations. Lorde, whose album "Virgin" went unrecognized by the Recording Academy, also chose not to attend.

Beyoncé, who won Album of the Year last year for "Cowboy Carter," did not qualify for this year's awards and decided to skip the show. Taylor Swift, not nominated this year and reportedly busy with wedding planning, was also absent.

Margaret, despite being on the seating chart, did not walk the red carpet. Ariana Grande, who won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Defying Gravity," did not attend the show. Cynthia Erivo, her collaborator, missed the ceremony as she is at the London Critics' Circle Theatre Awards and starring in a production of "Dracula" on London's West End.

Timothée Chalamet, nominated for the first time for "A Complete Unknown," skipped the show to participate in a Q&A in the U.K. and won Actor of the Year at the London Critics' Circle Theatre Awards. Kylie Jenner, often seen with Chalamet, was also absent from the event.
