The house at 4 Plaistow Grove, where Bowie wrote Space Oddity, will be restored to its 1960s appearance with the help of an archive and guidance from the co-curator of the David Bowie exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The project, supported by a grant from the Jones Day Foundation, aims to commemorate Bowie's legacy on what would have been his birthday and the anniversary of his death. The final album Blackstar, released 10 years ago, showcased Bowie's musical evolution and creativity, incorporating jazz and hip-hop influences.
Bowie's childhood friend, George Underwood, emphasized the significance of the house where their musical journey began. Bowie's early life in south London laid the foundation for his legendary music career, marked by numerous chart-topping singles and albums that showcased his innovative sound and image.
