Swing Bout: Irish Crime Thriller Secures Global Distribution Deal with Indie Rights

Indie Rights, a distributor based in Los Angeles, has acquired the global rights, excluding the U.K. and Ireland, for the Irish crime thriller "Swing Bout" directed by Maurice O’Carroll. The deal with Orion Productions, founded by producer Sinéad O’Riordan, includes various distribution rights such as TVOD, SVOD, AVOD, and home entertainment.

The film follows the story of Tony, played by Ciara Berkeley, a rising female boxer preparing for a significant match. Set in the world of women's boxing, the movie unfolds in real-time, capturing Tony's journey from the dressing room to the ring as she navigates a night filled with deceit, betrayal, and life-changing decisions.

Indie Rights CEO Linda Nelson expressed enthusiasm about the film's international potential, describing "Swing Bout" as a compelling and well-crafted thriller. O’Carroll, the writer-director, shared his excitement about collaborating with Indie Rights for the global release, highlighting the company's support for independent filmmakers.

Having premiered at the Dublin Film Festival in 2024 and showcased at Germany's Oldenburg Film Festival, known for promoting indie Irish cinema, "Swing Bout" is set for a digital release in early 2026. While Indie Rights will handle the global distribution, Orion Productions will retain digital rights for the U.K. and Ireland territories.

Filmed at Cork's Páirc Uí Chaoimh stadium, a historic venue for boxing matches, "Swing Bout" captures the essence of the sport. The location's significance is highlighted by the iconic 1995 rematch between Chris Eubank and Steve Collins, known as "The Celtic Warrior," where Collins emerged victorious, defending his WBO title.

In conclusion, "Swing Bout" promises to captivate audiences with its intense storyline and authentic portrayal of the world of women's boxing. The collaboration between Indie Rights and Orion Productions ensures a global reach for the film, showcasing the talent and creativity of independent filmmakers on an international stage.
