Razer Unveils Project Ava: The Next Generation Gaming Co-Pilot AI Assistant

This year at CES, Razer unveiled an updated version of Project Ava, their real-time gaming co-pilot AI assistant. Project Ava, represented by a character named Kira, provides live advice and commentary while you play games. The new hardware for Project Ava features a cylindrical desktop device with a transparent outer shell that displays a full-body animated character inside. The device is designed to sit next to a laptop or monitor and functions as a dedicated display for the AI assistant, keeping it separate from the game screen.

The character showcased by Razer, Kira, is just one of the available options for Project Ava. Other presets include Zane, a character with a distinctive appearance. Razer has mentioned that these avatars will be customizable, allowing users to create their own characters from scratch. The company has also partnered with influencers to offer character likenesses, such as esports pro Faker, emphasizing the blend of personality and utility in Project Ava.

During the demo at CES, the AI struggled to consistently pick up voice commands due to the loud environment. Despite this, the AI was able to provide solid recommendations for gameplay decisions. Razer has expanded Project Ava's capabilities beyond gaming, allowing the AI to offer advice on non-gaming tasks as well. This move positions Project Ava as a more general-purpose assistant with a focus on gamers.

While there is no specific release date for Project Ava yet, Razer aims to launch it sometime this year. The company continues to refine the AI assistant to enhance the gaming experience and provide valuable assistance to users. Stay tuned for more updates on Project Ava and other tech innovations at CES 2026.
