Kodiak AI and Bosch Partner to Develop Autonomous Driving System for Trucks

Kodiak AI, a company specializing in self-driving trucks, has partnered with global automotive supplier Bosch to develop a system that can equip standard big rigs with autonomous driving capabilities. The collaboration was announced at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, signaling a step towards expanding Kodiak's self-driving technology to a wider range of trucks at a faster pace.

Kodiak has already created a self-driving system with redundant components for braking, steering, sensors, and computers. Their self-driving trucks have been operational since January 2025, making driverless deliveries for Atlas Energy Solutions in the Permian Basin region. The company has delivered several self-driving trucks to Atlas Energy as part of an initial order, with plans to scale up their technology for broader use.

In partnership with Bosch, Kodiak aims to develop redundant platforms that can be integrated into semi trucks from various manufacturers to enable autonomous driving. Bosch will provide hardware components such as sensors and steering technologies, which can be added during vehicle production or by a third-party upfitter later on. This collaboration is expected to enhance the modularity and serviceability of autonomous driving hardware for commercial success.

Kodiak's founder and CEO, Don Burnette, expressed optimism about the collaboration with Bosch, emphasizing the importance of scalability and system-level integration for autonomous driving technology. Bosch's president in North America, Paul Thomas, highlighted the opportunity to advance autonomous trucking with production-grade hardware, aiming to deepen their understanding of real-world requirements and enhance offerings for the autonomous mobility ecosystem.

While both Kodiak and Bosch are focused on expanding their presence in the autonomous driving sector, specific timelines for the production and availability of these new systems have not been disclosed. The partnership between the two companies signifies a significant step towards advancing autonomous driving technology for the trucking industry, with the potential for widespread adoption in the future.
