Seth Rollins was initially cast as the villain King Cobra in the movie "Captain America: Brave New World" but was later replaced by Giancarlo Esposito's Seth Voelker due to a creative decision made by the director, Julius Onah. Despite being cut from the film, Onah has praised Rollins' performance and left the door open for him to appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.
Director Julius Onah explained that Rollins' character was deemed too over-the-top for a movie featuring Harrison Ford's Red Hulk. However, he expressed admiration for Rollins as a performer and a person, expressing a desire to collaborate with him again in the future.
Rollins himself has taken the news of being replaced in stride, expressing no ill feelings towards Marvel or the decision to cast Esposito instead. He acknowledged Esposito's talent and hopes that his scenes may still be included in some form in the final cut of the movie.
