Tragic Christmas Day Shooting Incident Leads to Manslaughter Charge in Oklahoma

An Oklahoma man is facing a first-degree manslaughter charge after a tragic incident on Christmas Day. Cody Adams, 33, has been charged in connection with the shooting that resulted in the death of Sandra Phelps, who was struck by a bullet while sitting on her front porch with her family.

The Stephens County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting incident on December 25, where witnesses reported hearing gunshots before Phelps was hit. The bullet entered Phelps' upper right arm and traveled into her chest, causing her fatal injury.

Investigators identified Adams as the shooter after finding spent shell casings and a broken ceramic tile in his backyard where he had been doing target practice. Adams admitted to shooting a new Glock .45-caliber handgun he received as a Christmas gift and expressed remorse when informed that his bullet had caused Phelps' death.

Adams appeared in court and was released on a $100,000 bond following the incident. The tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of gun safety and responsible shooting practices to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
