Sarnia Sting forward Ben Pickell has committed to Robert Morris University for the upcoming season. Pickell, who was acquired from the Kingston Frontenacs, has been a key player for the Sting this season. The Courtice native has a strong background in junior hockey and has shown his skills in the OHL. His commitment to Robert Morris University was recently announced on eliteprospects.com.

Pickell joins a list of Sting players with NCAA commitments, including Beckham Edwards, Patrick Quinlan, Cameron Aucoin, Matthew Manza, and Liam Beamish. The Sting will resume their season after the holiday break with a game against the London Knights at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Tanner Winegard, a defenseman from Bright's Grove, will participate in the BCHL all-star weekend in Spruce Grove, Alta. Winegard has had a successful season with the Langley Rivermen and will showcase his skills in the college prospects game and the Canada vs. World game. The Team Canada roster includes forward Joseph Sinclair, who has been a standout player in the BCHL.

Former Sting player Porter Martone is currently captaining Team Canada at the IIHF world junior championship in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn. Martone, a top prospect in the 2025 NHL draft, has been making a name for himself at Michigan State University. Team Canada is under the leadership of Oil Springs brothers Dale and Mark Hunter, with former Sting GM Alan Millar also playing a key role.
