Vikings Make Roster Adjustments Ahead of Game Against Lions
The Vikings have placed center Ryan Kelly on Injured Reserve for the second time in 2025 due to a concussion. This is the third time Kelly has entered concussion protocol this season. Despite wearing a Guardian Cap on his helmet, he left Sunday's game early. Kelly's absence will impact the team's performance as he had been playing well in December games, helping the team secure a 3-0 record this month.
Michael Jurgens is expected to start in place of Kelly against the Lions. Jurgens, a 2024 seventh-round pick, has previous experience in 16 games over two seasons. The Vikings have also signed interior offensive lineman Henry Byrd from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Byrd has mainly played on special teams this season.
In addition to these roster moves, the Vikings have elevated linebacker Sione Takitaki from the practice squad for special teams duties. Rookie tight end Gavin Bartholomew has been downgraded from questionable to out due to a back injury. Bartholomew is currently in a 21-day evaluation window.
The team is preparing for their upcoming game against the Lions and will rely on the depth of their roster to fill the void left by Kelly's absence. The Vikings are focused on finishing the season strong and securing victories in the remaining games.
