Tom Petty Park Pickleball Courts and Restroom Renovations Update

Exciting progress is being made on the new pickleball courts at Tom Petty Park in Gainesville, Florida. The construction of the courts is well underway, with the base layer already in place, fence posts installed, and court lighting set up. Additionally, a new section of the multi-use path on the east side of the project site has been finished, with irrigation and landscaping to follow. For safety reasons, the tennis courts are temporarily closed as work is being done along the court perimeter. The courts are expected to reopen between late December and early January. The overall schedule aims for substantial completion by late January, with the pickleball courts projected to open for public use in February-March 2026.

In addition to the pickleball courts, renovations to the park restrooms are also progressing. The demolition of the existing building has been completed, and temporary restrooms are available in the southeast corner of the parking lot. The new restroom facilities are scheduled to be finished by mid-2026. To keep the community informed, a dedicated project webpage has been set up with public meeting information, past updates, ongoing construction progress, and project cost details. The City of Gainesville appreciates the patience and support of the community as they work to enhance Tom Petty Park for all to enjoy.
