Florida Gators' Defensive Coaching Staff Finalized Under New Head Coach Jon Sumrall

The Florida Gators are finalizing their defensive coaching staff for the upcoming season under new head coach Jon Sumrall. Dae'one Wilkins, a former quality control coach, is set to coach the nickel corners alongside Brandon Harris and Chris Collins. Wilkins, who previously coached at Kentucky, is now the youngest position coach in the SEC. Sumrall has made several coaching hires, including defensive coordinator Brad White, offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, and defensive line coach Gerald Chatman.
Sumrall has also brought in coaches from Tulane, such as Joe Craddock, Evan McKissack, Bam Hardmon, Greg Gasparato, Johnathan Galante, and Rusty Whitt. Sumrall emphasized that his staff selection is based on finding the best group of people to develop players and win championships. The only remaining coaching position to be filled is for running backs, with former Auburn offensive coordinator Derrick Nix and former Texas running backs coach Chad Scott being considered for the role.
Sumrall is set to meet with star running back Jadan Baugh to discuss his future with the program. Baugh is a priority for Sumrall, who expressed his desire to retain the talented player. The Florida Gators on SI are keeping track of all staff changes under Sumrall as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
