Paul McCartney Releases Visualizer Video for 'Arrow Through Me' from Wings Compilation

Paul McCartney has released a visualizer video for the song "Arrow Through Me" from his post-Beatles band Wings. The track was originally part of Wings' final studio album, Back to the Egg, released in 1979. The song is also included in the new WINGS compilation curated by Sir Paul, which was released on November 7. The visualizer video combines original music video footage with stylized graphics, animation, archival band photos, and handwritten lyric sheets.
"Arrow Through Me" was one of Wings' last charting hits before the band disbanded, reaching No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song featured a blend of pop, funk, and reggae influences, with Paul McCartney and drummer Steve Holley being the primary contributors to the track. McCartney provided vocals, keyboard bass, electric piano, and clavinet, while Holley played drums, percussion, and drum machine. The song also featured a four-piece horn section.
In a recent Q&A session, McCartney mentioned that "Arrow Through Me" is one of his favorite deep cuts by Wings. He also discussed the song in his book, The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, where he shared insights into the song's creation, including the inspiration behind the lyrics and the overall feel of the track. The song is featured on the WINGS compilation in various formats, including a three-LP set, a two-CD collection, and digital formats.
The WINGS compilation includes 32 tracks and is available in different versions, including limited-edition colored-vinyl and black-vinyl sets. The artwork for the compilation was overseen by McCartney and Aubrey "Po" Powell of the Hipgnosis design agency. The physical formats come with a booklet featuring an introduction by McCartney, album-by-album notes on the artwork by Po, and additional editorial content by rock journalist Peter Paphides.
The release of the WINGS compilation coincided with the publication of McCartney's memoir, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, which delves into the history of the band from its formation in the 1970s to its dissolution in 1981. An audiobook version of the memoir is set to be released in December. Additionally, a documentary about McCartney's career during that era, titled Man on the Run, will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in February 2026.
McCartney recently concluded a fall North American leg of his Get Back Tour in Chicago. There is no official confirmation yet on whether he will be touring in 2026. Fans can enjoy the visualizer video for "Arrow Through Me" on McCartney's official YouTube channel.
