Box Office Report: Zootopia 2 Reclaims Top Spot, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Drops, and More!

The latest weekend box office results have shown that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 had a strong opening but quickly dropped in its second week, allowing Disney’s Zootopia 2 to reclaim the top spot with a $26 million weekend and a total domestic haul of $258 million. Zootopia 2 has already surpassed $1 billion domestically, making it the fastest animated movie to reach this milestone. The movie is performing exceptionally well overseas.
Despite a 70% drop in its second week, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has earned nearly $100 million domestically, reaching $95 million. Wicked: For Good made $8.55 million for a total of $312 million, falling short of its predecessor by about $100 million. Bollywood hit Dhurandhar had a successful week with a $3.4 million weekend and a $7.8 million domestic total.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is wrapping up its domestic run with $2.38 million this weekend and a total just under $60 million. JUJUTSU KAISEN: Execution dropped 79% to sixth place with $2.1 million and a $14.5 million domestic total. Ella McCay, directed by James L. Brooks, was a major flop with only $2.1 million in earnings despite its star-studded cast.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas re-entered the top 10 with a 25th-anniversary re-release, making $1.85 million and adding to its lifetime gross of $264 million. Eternity earned $1.77 million for a total just under $13 million, while Hamnett brought in $1.5 million for a $7 million total. The Shining’s 45th-anniversary release made around $1.45 million on 400 screens, playing only twice a day in the evening in most theaters.
Silent Night, Deadly Night had a disappointing performance with only about $1.1 million, indicating that efforts to revive the Christmas slasher franchise have not been successful. Next weekend will see the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash and The Housemaid, both expected to have strong openings. Stay tuned for our predictions later this week.
