Florida State Football Coaching Changes and Updates for 2025 Season

Florida State football is undergoing changes this offseason, with the dismissal of defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. and the addition of new EDGE coach Will Harris. Additionally, longtime running backs coach David Johnson has left for Arkansas. Three assistant coaches - quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz, tight ends coach Chris Thomsen, and linebackers coach/special teams coordinator John Papuchis - are awaiting decisions on their contracts, with Tokarz expected to become the offensive coordinator at Buffalo under head coach Pete Lembo. Tokarz leaves Florida State after six years, having worked with head coach Mike Norvell at Memphis and then following him to Tallahassee. He played a key role in developing quarterback Jordan Travis during his time with the Seminoles, but the team has struggled to find consistent quarterback play since Travis' departure. The quarterback room is evolving, with changes expected in the upcoming season. Stay tuned to NoleGameday for more updates on Florida State Football in 2025.
