Katrina Elam: From Oklahoma Talent Show to Nashville Stardom

Country singer-songwriter Katrina Elam, known for her rendition of Carrie Underwood's "Flat on the Floor," was born in Bray, Oklahoma in 1983. Elam's musical journey began at a young age when she impressed audiences at a local talent show. Encouraged by her early success, she pursued a career in music.
At just 16, Elam received recognition as the female vocalist of the year from the Oklahoma Country Music Association and the Oklahoma Opry. Her talent caught the attention of country music icons Reba McEntire and Vince Gill, who saw her potential and helped her make a mark in Nashville.
Moving to Nashville after high school, Elam signed with Universal South Records in 2004 and released her self-titled debut album. The album achieved moderate success on the Billboard charts with singles like "No End in Sight" and "I Want a Cowboy." Despite this, her sophomore album, Turn Me Up, was never released, and she parted ways with her label in 2008.
Elam's career took a new turn when Carrie Underwood recorded "Flat on the Floor," a song originally performed by Elam. The track gained popularity and reached No. 52 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Elam also found success as a songwriter, contributing to hits like Underwood's "Change" and Rascal Flatts' "Easy."
In addition to her music career, Elam ventured into acting and starred in Pure Country 2: The Gift, a sequel to the classic film featuring George Strait. Her versatile talents have allowed her to make a mark in both the music and film industries, showcasing her passion for storytelling through various mediums.
