Pitt Football 2026 Schedule Update: Wisconsin Game Canceled, New Matchups Announced

Pitt football's scheduled nonconference game against Wisconsin for the 2026 season has been canceled. The decision to cancel the game, which was set for September 19, was made mutually by both programs. However, the cancellation does not affect the 2027 matchup between Pitt and Wisconsin, which is still scheduled to take place at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland on August 28.

For the upcoming 2026 season, Pitt has confirmed a nonconference game with UCF from the Big 12. This game will mark the beginning of a home-and-home series, with the 2026 game set to be played at Acrisure Stadium on September 12. Additionally, there are reports that Pitt may open the season on September 5 against Miami (Ohio), leaving at least one more nonconference game to be scheduled on the Pitt calendar.

The 2026 schedule for Pitt is still subject to change as the Panthers and other ACC schools transition to a nine-game conference schedule. The ACC has outlined that most teams will play nine conference games and one Power Four game in 2026, with some exceptions playing eight conference games and two Power Four non-conference opponents to accommodate existing non-conference game commitments.

By 2027, all 16 ACC teams are expected to follow the nine conference games and one Power Four game model, with one team playing eight ACC games and two Power Four teams.
