Flagler County Sheriff's Office Detective Arrested for Fleeing Law Enforcement Officer: Internal and Criminal Investigations Underway

A detective from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office was arrested for fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. Detective Ardit Coma, who is part of the Major Case Unit and joined the office in June 2023, was driving an unmarked agency vehicle to work when the incident occurred. He has been suspended without pay following the arrest.

Coma had previously received a life-saving award in 2024. The sheriff's office emphasized the importance of employees following the law and stated that swift action is taken when an arrest is made. The Ormond Beach Police Department is handling the investigation, and once the criminal case concludes, the FCSO Professional Standards Unit will conduct an internal investigation.

During this time, Detective Coma remains suspended without pay and does not have law enforcement authority. The sheriff's office is committed to upholding the values and expectations of the department, and believes in providing due process to Detective Coma as the case progresses.
