Rep. Jamie Raskin Calls on CBS for Transparency in Editing Process: A Closer Look at the Controversial '60 Minutes' Interview with President Trump

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) has called on CBS and its parent company Paramount to provide more details about the editing process of an interview with President Trump that aired on “60 Minutes” last month. Raskin criticized CBS for allegedly allowing Trump to influence editorial decisions, particularly regarding the exclusion of Trump's comments about a settlement Paramount paid to his presidential foundation. The settlement stemmed from a lawsuit Trump filed against the company over an edited interview with former Vice President Harris. Following backlash, CBS pledged to release full transcripts of all “60 Minutes” interviews with presidents and presidential candidates. Trump's positive remarks about CBS's new leader, Bari Weiss, were also highlighted in the interview. Raskin expressed concerns about Trump's alleged intimidation tactics against media organizations and requested information on CBS's editorial standards and handling of complaints related to the Trump interview. CBS News has not yet responded to Raskin's letter.
