Actress Claudia Black Opens Up About Departure from Star Wars: Ahsoka

Claudia Black recently discussed her departure from Star Wars: Ahsoka ahead of the second season. In a recent interview, the actress revealed that the financial terms offered for the upcoming season did not meet her needs. She emphasized that her earnings from the first season were significantly lower than expected for a major franchise role. Black expressed her concerns about the disparity in pay for women in such projects, highlighting the additional responsibilities they often have to manage outside of work.
Despite the financial challenges, Black clarified that her decision to exit the show was not a personal reflection from Disney. She appreciated the supportive response she received after sharing her reasons for leaving. Black also expressed gratitude to Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni for his understanding and support during this time.
In her initial interview with Bleeding Cool, Black disclosed that the filming for Season 2 would take place in London, which posed logistical challenges for her as a single mother based in Los Angeles. The distance and financial constraints made it difficult for her to continue with the role. Despite the disappointment of not returning for the second season, Black remains appreciative of the opportunities she had in the first season and the positive experiences she gained from working on the show.
