St. Louis Blues Acquire Akil Thomas in Trade with Los Angeles Kings: A Look at the Deal

The St. Louis Blues have made a trade with the Los Angeles Kings, acquiring forward Akil Thomas in exchange for forward Nikita Alexandrov. Thomas will join the Blues' AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. The 25-year-old Thomas has put up 13 points in 19 games with the Kings' AHL team, the Ontario Reign, this season. He has a total of 106 points in 176 career AHL games and has also played 32 NHL games with the Kings, recording seven points. Thomas was drafted by the Kings in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft.

On the other hand, Alexandrov, a 25-year-old forward, was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft. He has accumulated 143 points in 188 AHL games and nine points in 51 NHL games over six seasons with the Blues organization. Alexandrov hails from Burgwedel, Germany, and has been a consistent contributor for the Blues' AHL team.

The trade between the Blues and the Kings sees Thomas joining the Blues' organization while Alexandrov heads to the Kings. Both players have shown promise in their respective careers and will look to make an impact with their new teams. The Blues hope that Thomas can provide an offensive boost, while the Kings will be counting on Alexandrov to contribute to their lineup. It will be interesting to see how both players adjust to their new surroundings and help their teams moving forward.
