Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum Receives Fourth Consecutive Accreditation from American Alliance of Museums

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum has once again received accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), a prestigious recognition that validates the museum's operations and impact. This marks the fourth consecutive accreditation for the museum since it was first accredited in 1987. Only a select few museums, around 500, have achieved accreditation four times out of the estimated 33,000 museums in the United States. Accreditation is a rigorous process that museums must undergo every 10 years to maintain their status.

For over 50 years, the AAM's accreditation program has set the standard for museums that excel in achieving their mission and operating according to the highest industry standards. The accreditation process evaluates museums in various areas, including public trust and accountability, mission and planning, leadership and organizational structure, collections stewardship, education and interpretation, financial stability, and facility management. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's CEO, Kyle Young, emphasized the importance of reaccreditation in validating the museum's commitment to preserving the history of country music and sharing its cultural significance with a broad audience.

To earn accreditation, museums must undergo a comprehensive self-study process followed by a site visit by a team of peer reviewers. The Accreditation Commission, comprised of museum professionals, reviews the self-study and visiting committee report to determine if a museum meets the criteria for accreditation. As one of the most visited museums in the country, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum welcomed nearly 1.5 million visitors in 2024 and offered a wide range of educational programs, both in-person and virtual. The museum's collection facilities, including the Frist Library and Archive, house an extensive collection of country music artifacts and serve as a vital research center for studying the genre's history and impact.

The museum features rotating exhibits, a permanent core exhibition, and the Taylor Swift Education Center, which offers diverse programs to engage audiences. The institution's performance spaces, such as the CMA Theater and the Ford Theater, host live music performances and public programming. Additionally, the museum operates the Grammy-winning Country Music Foundation Records, the Country Music Foundation Press, Historic RCA Studio B, Haley Art Gallery, and the Hatch Show Print letterpress print shop. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum continues to uphold its mission of preserving and promoting the rich history of country music through its diverse offerings and commitment to excellence.
