Traffic Alert: Delays Expected on M54 Motorway Due to Serious Crash

Drivers are being warned of potential delays lasting up to 15 minutes due to a serious crash involving multiple vehicles on the M54 motorway in Shropshire. An HGV crossed over from the eastbound to the westbound side, resulting in extensive barrier damage. Emergency services are on the scene, and National Highways is managing traffic. The two eastbound lanes are closed, but the trapped traffic is being released. The westbound carriageway will remain closed for emergency repairs, causing potential rush hour chaos for commuters this morning.
The M54 is a crucial route for travelers heading to Wolverhampton, Birmingham, and north Wales. If delays worsen, drivers on the M6 may also experience disruptions. National Highways advises motorists to allocate extra travel time today. This incident follows the closure of the M20 yesterday due to a fatal three-vehicle crash in Kent. A driver died, and another was seriously injured in the collision involving a white Mercedes lorry, a black Nissan Qashqai, and a white Scania articulated lorry on the London-bound carriageway. The driver of the Nissan, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Mercedes driver was airlifted to a London hospital for treatment.
