Severe Storms Cause Damage in Houston Area: ESD 11 Building Destroyed, Tornado Warnings Issued

Severe storms swept through the Houston area, causing damage to various structures and triggering Tornado Warnings. Reports confirmed damage near Louetta in Spring and the destruction of a building at Harris County Emergency Services District 11 on Stuebner Airline. Tornado Warnings were issued from 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., with a funnel cloud spotted in northwest Harris County that touched down as a weak tornado. The Klein Fire Department reported a tornado touching down near Hooks Airport, causing damage to a fence, trailer, and other structures between 1:40 p.m. and 1:50 p.m. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported by 2:15 p.m.

ESD 11, located near the Klein Fire Department on Stuebner Airline, experienced significant damage during the storm. The oldest and weakest building on the 44-acre campus was completely demolished, with a barn housing equipment also destroyed. Despite two workers being inside the building when it collapsed, they managed to find shelter and avoid injuries. The storm caused a gas leak and knocked down trees in front of the facility, but emergency operations were not impacted.
