GHF Transition: Passing the Torch of Humanitarian Aid in Gaza

The U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has successfully delivered over 187 million free meals to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip without Hamas interference. As a result, GHF has decided to transition its operations to other aid organizations. The foundation's mission was to ensure that meals reached the Gazan population and prevent Hamas from looting aid supplies, providing over 1.1 million packs of ready-to-use supplementary food for malnourished children.

GHF Executive Director John Acree stated that the foundation's goal was to demonstrate a successful approach to aid delivery and hand over this success to the broader international community. With the establishment of the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) and increased engagement from the international humanitarian community, GHF believes it is time to pass on its model to others.

GHF has been in discussions with CMCC and international organizations to adopt and expand the successful aid delivery model pioneered by GHF. The foundation's operations are winding down as they have achieved their mission of showcasing a more effective way to provide aid to Gazans. GHF's dedicated team, including former U.S. service members, humanitarians, and local workers, risked their lives to feed the people in Gaza during active conflict.

Despite facing attacks and accusations, GHF remained committed to its mission of providing aid to those in need in Gaza. The foundation offered assistance to U.N. agencies to secure and distribute aid while preventing looting and diversion, with no reported incidents of aid trucks being looted during their operations.

GHF emphasized that American-led solutions and compassion were key to their success, acknowledging the Trump administration's support for innovation and accountability in aid delivery. While GHF is prepared to revive its mission if new humanitarian needs arise, it will not dissolve as a registered NGO. Acree expressed gratitude for the relationships built with the Gazan community, especially women and children who interacted with the GHF team daily at aid sites.

In conclusion, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's efforts to provide aid to the Gaza Strip have made a significant impact, demonstrating a successful model for aid delivery in challenging environments. Despite facing criticism and challenges, GHF's commitment to serving the Gazan population and preventing aid diversion has been commendable.
