Inside the Bob Dylan Center: A Conversation with Director Steven Jenkins
Steven Jenkins, the director of the Bob Dylan Center, shared his lifelong admiration for Bob Dylan and how he became the leader of the center housing Dylan's archives. Jenkins met Steve Higgins, managing director of the American Song Archives, and eventually applied for the position of director at the Bob Dylan Center.
Since its opening in May 2022, the Bob Dylan Center has gained significant attention and attendance, especially after the release of the Academy Award-nominated film "A Complete Unknown." The center has hosted themed concerts dedicated to iconic Dylan albums like Blood on the Tracks and plans to feature Blonde on Blonde in February 2026. Additionally, the "Going Electric" exhibit focuses on Dylan's pivotal year in 1965, when he famously went electric at the Newport Folk Festival.
In an interview, Jenkins discussed his role at the center, which involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, curating live events, and setting long-term goals for the organization.
