FC Lorient Partners with S8UL Esports for eLigue1 2025-26 Season

FC Lorient, a prominent French football club, has recently announced a collaboration with Indian esports organization S8UL Esports for the upcoming 2025-26 eLigue1 season. S8UL's Julien ‘Fouma’ Perbal and Jonas ‘Jonny’ Wirth will be representing FC Lorient in the tournament. FC Lorient has been dominating the French EAFC esports scene, winning every eLigue1 title since 2021. Fouma, who was previously part of FC Lorient's lineup, played a crucial role in the club's victories from 2021 to 2025.
S8UL Esports, a new player in EAFC esports, entered the scene before the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. The Mumbai-based organization was part of the Esports World Cup Partner Programme and has been actively investing in EAFC esports. They signed Fouma on October 1st, 2025, marking their first partnership with a football club for esports. The eLigue1 is organized by the Ligue de Football Professionnel, the governing body for major football leagues in France, including Ligue 1.
While the official schedule for the eLigue1 2026 season has not been released yet, based on previous years, it is expected to start in early to mid-January 2026 and conclude in late April. The tournament winner typically earns a direct spot in the FC Pro 24 World Championship, with the top two players qualifying for the eChampions League. In the 2025 edition of eLigue1, 11 clubs competed for a share of the €60,000 prize pool. The competition featured a single-round-robin group stage leading to single-elimination playoffs, with the top six teams advancing.
Other notable clubs in the eLigue1 league include PSG, LOSC Esports, and FC Nantes. The partnership between FC Lorient and S8UL Esports signifies a growing trend of collaboration between traditional sports clubs and esports organizations, bridging the gap between physical and digital sports realms. This partnership is set to bring exciting opportunities for both FC Lorient and S8UL Esports in the competitive esports landscape.
