Record-Breaking Potential at the 59th Annual CMA Awards: Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, and More

The upcoming 59th Annual CMA Awards could witness a historic moment as Chris Stapleton and Brooks & Dunn are tied for the most CMA Awards ever, with 19 wins each. Stapleton is nominated for three awards, while Brooks & Dunn is competing in the Vocal Duo of the Year category, giving them the opportunity to set a new record this year. Stapleton also has a chance to make history by winning the Male Vocalist of the Year award for the ninth time, tying the record for most consecutive wins in the category.

Lainey Wilson, the host of the ceremony, has the potential to set several records with six nominations. If she wins the five major categories, she would become the first woman and second person ever to achieve this feat. Wilson could also challenge Miranda Lambert's record for the most awarded female solo artist at the CMAs. Winning five out of six nominated categories would tie her with Lambert at 14 wins, while a six-win night would make her the sole record holder.

If Wilson, Megan Moroney, or Ella Langley win all six awards they are nominated for, they would break the record for most wins in a single night, currently held by Wilson, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, and Johnny Cash. Wilson could also become the second woman to win Album of the Year twice if she secures the award. Additionally, winning Female Vocalist of the Year for the fourth consecutive year would place her in the company of Lambert and Reba McEntire.

In the highly competitive Entertainer of the Year category, Stapleton, Wilson, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, and Morgan Wallen are vying for the top honor. Combs has the opportunity to join the ranks of Jackson, Garth Brooks, and George Strait with three victories in the category. Combs could also set a record by winning Single of the Year for "Ain't No Love in Oklahoma," becoming the ninth artist to win the trophy multiple times.

Kenny Chesney could have a significant night if he and Moroney win Musical Event of the Year for "You Had to be There," making Chesney the sole record holder in the category with five victories. Langley and Riley Green are also nominated in the category, and if they win with "Don't Mind If I Do," they would be the first duo to win the trophy two years in a row.
