Sigourney Weaver Reveals Why Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 Project Never Happened

Sigourney Weaver recently discussed why Neill Blomkamp's proposed Alien 5 project never materialized. Weaver, known for her role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise, worked with Blomkamp on a different movie called Chappie and admired his work. Blomkamp had a vision to bring Ripley and Newt back in Alien 5, but Ridley Scott's return to the franchise with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant shifted the focus away from Blomkamp's project. Despite the promising script, the project faced challenges due to Scott's involvement. While Alien 5 may not happen, a new Alien movie titled Alien: Romulus was released last year, with a sequel currently in the works. Blomkamp is now working on an adaptation of Starship Troopers after his recent film Gran Turismo.
