2025 CMA Awards Preview: Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, and Cody Johnson in the Running for Entertainer of the Year
Luke Combs is a prominent figure at the 2025 CMA Awards with three nominations in top categories. He has previously won the Entertainer of the Year award twice in 2021 and 2022. This year, he faces tough competition from Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, Cody Johnson, and Lainey Wilson, with Wallen and Wilson having won the award in the past.
If Lainey Wilson wins this year, she will become only the third female artist to win Entertainer of the Year twice, following in the footsteps of Barbara Mandrell and Taylor Swift. Cody Johnson could also make history by becoming the 12th artist to win in their first year as a nominee and the first male artist to do so in 20 years.
Luke Combs surprised many by not naming himself as his choice for CMA Entertainer of the Year in 2025, instead shining the spotlight on two deserving artists. Combs and Wilson are set to perform at the awards ceremony, while Johnson, who underwent eardrum surgery, will attend as a special guest and introduce Wilson's performance.
