Meet Jackson Ball: The Newest Addition to the Wisconsin Badgers Men's Basketball Team
The Wisconsin men's basketball team has officially signed Jackson Ball, a talented 6-4 guard from Napier, New Zealand, to join their roster for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Greg Gard expressed his excitement about having Ball as a Wisconsin Badger, highlighting his skills, physicality, and successful international basketball experience. Ball's performance at the FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup this past summer, where he led New Zealand to a fourth-place finish, showcased his abilities on the court.
Having also represented New Zealand at the 2024 FIBA U-17 Basketball World Cup and the 2023 FIBA U-16 Asian Championships, Ball brings a wealth of experience to the team. He even earned a spot on the New Zealand senior team, making him one of the youngest players to play for the Tall Blacks program. Currently playing for the Illawarra Hawks in the National Basketball League in Australia, Ball has already demonstrated his skills on the court.
Before joining the Hawks, Ball had an impressive season with the Hawke's Bay Hawks in the New Zealand National Basketball League, averaging 20.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. His addition to the Wisconsin Badgers' roster alongside LaTrevion Fenderson promises to bring a new level of talent and experience to the team. The coaching staff is eager to work with Ball and help him transition smoothly to college basketball when he arrives in Madison next summer.
