HSDC Fall Series at Steppenwolf: A Showcase of Talent and Beauty

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC) kicked off its Fall Series at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago, marking the start of Season 48. The dancers showcased their talent in four pieces from HSDC's repertoire, introduced by Artistic Director Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell. The performances were a display of classical and modern footwork, filled with intentionality and beauty.
One of the highlights was "Black Milk" by choreographer Ohad Naharin, featuring five male dancers in oatmeal-colored Japanese hakama pants. The piece demanded stamina and concentration, with the dancers showcasing their physicality through elegant kicks and leaps. Another standout was "Percussion IV" by Bob Fosse, a solo performance that was electrifying and mesmerizing, paying tribute to Fosse's explosive talent.
"Aszure Barton's "A Duo" presented a complex duet performed by Shota Miyoshi and Cyrie Topete, showcasing their talent in a mesmerizing performance. "IMPASSE" by Johan Inger was a whimsical and captivating montage performed by the full HSDC company, featuring a festival of movement and operatic aplomb. The dancers engaged in a frenetic and masquerade-like performance, creating a feast for the senses.
