Television Academy Re-elects Cris Abrego as Chair for Second Term: New Leadership Team Announced

Cris Abrego has been re-elected as the chair of the Television Academy for a second term, as announced by the Board of Governors. Joining him in leadership roles are Jacob Fenton as Vice Chair, Jo DiSante as 2nd Vice Chair, Megan Chao as Secretary, and Tony Carey as Treasurer. Their two-year term will commence on January 1, 2026, and extend through 2027.

During his initial term, Abrego oversaw the successful launch of the Televerse festival and played a key role in advancing the Academy's industry advocacy efforts. He also focused on engaging with policymakers in Washington, D.C., and enhancing the Innovation Advisory Committee's work on AI and emerging technology. Under his leadership, the past two Emmy telecasts on ABC and CBS experienced consecutive years of ratings growth.

Abrego, a seasoned studio executive and producer, is the co-founder and CEO of Hyphenate Media Group. He previously held leadership positions at Banijay Americas and Endemol Shine North America. Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, Abrego emphasized the Academy's crucial role in supporting its members and the television community, as well as driving industry initiatives forward.

Looking ahead, Abrego is eager to collaborate with the newly elected officers and governors to build on the Academy's progress and navigate the evolving landscape of the television industry.
