Hockey Fights Cancer Night: Carolina Hurricanes vs. Vancouver Canucks
The Carolina Hurricanes are set to host their annual Hockey Fights Cancer awareness game, presented by UNC Health and supported by AstraZeneca, on Friday, Nov. 14, against the Vancouver Canucks at 7 p.m. Hurricanes players Seth Jarvis, Sean Walker, and Charles Alexis Legault recently visited the N.C. Basnight Cancer Hospital at UNC Hospital to meet with local pediatric cancer patients, offering signed Canes gear and words of hope and healing to uplift their spirits.
Various cancer awareness, research, and support groups, such as the American Cancer Society, Raleigh Testicular Cancer Foundation, 1ofUs, and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, will be present at the Lenovo Center South Plaza before the game to engage with fans and share their missions. Fans can show their support by completing "I Fight For" signs and participating in fundraising activities during the game to raise funds for pediatric cancer research at UNC, with The V Foundation matching donations up to $50,000.
The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation and The V Foundation for Cancer Research have joined forces to raise $100,000 to support families affected by cancer in North Carolina. Fans can contribute through donations, auctions, and limited-edition merchandise sales, with all proceeds benefiting the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation. Limited-edition mystery pucks signed by players and special jerseys with a V Foundation/Carolina Hurricanes Foundation patch will be available for purchase to support the cause.
Hockey Fights Cancer is a collaborative initiative between the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players' Association, aiming to raise awareness and support for those affected by cancer. The Hurricanes are proud to be part of this campaign, highlighting the efforts of partners in the fight against cancer and inspiring hope and courage in individuals impacted by the disease. The campaign runs from November 1-30, with each NHL Club hosting an awareness night during this period.
