Protecting Democracy: A Veteran's Call to Action

Throughout my 37 years of military service, I have witnessed the highs and lows of America. As we commemorate Veterans Day, I am deeply troubled by the current state of our democracy. The deployment of U.S. troops on American soil and the actions of agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement are threatening our democratic values and individual freedoms.

I recently issued a stark warning in collaboration with Freedom Watch Media, urging all Americans to recognize the dangers facing our democracy. The current administration's actions are eroding our democratic norms and institutions, putting our democracy at risk. It is crucial that we all stand up to protect our democracy from further harm.

The misuse of our military forces is particularly concerning. While I led troops to aid in disaster relief efforts, the current administration is using soldiers to project power and intimidate the public. This misuse of military forces sets a dangerous precedent for the future, where troops could be deployed in larger numbers for questionable purposes.

The administration's discussions about suspending habeas corpus and invoking the Insurrection Act are alarming. These actions violate our Constitution and threaten the rule of law. The administration's disregard for legal norms and attempts to stifle freedom of expression are deeply troubling and must be addressed.

We must not allow these actions to become normalized in our country. It is imperative that we all stand up to protect our democracy and uphold the values that make America great. As we honor our veterans, let us also commit to safeguarding our democracy for future generations.
