DC Studios and HBO Max are collaborating on a new fictional true crime series set in the DC Universe called "DC Crime." The show will be presented as a true crime docuseries hosted by Jimmy Olsen, focusing on the DC villain Gorilla Grodd. The series will be written and produced by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, known for their work on mockumentary series like "American Vandal" and "Players."
Yacenda and Perrault have experience in creating successful mockumentary series, with "American Vandal" winning a Peabody Award and being nominated for an Emmy. They have also worked on projects spoofing the sports world and eSports. Yacenda has worked on shows like "Chad Powers" and "Dave," while Perrault recently appeared in the Shondaland-Netflix series "The Residence."
Gorilla Grodd is a DC character who is part of a highly-intelligent society of gorillas with psychic powers. The character first appeared in DC Comics in 1959 and has been featured in various DC animated series and films, as well as in The CW's "Arrow-verse" shows, particularly in "The Flash."
