Charli XCX and John Cale Collaborate on New Track 'House' for Wuthering Heights Film Adaptation

Charli XCX has unveiled a new track titled "House," featuring John Cale, created for the upcoming film adaptation of Emily Brontë's novel Wuthering Heights by Emerald Fennell. Collaborating with Finn Keane, Charli explores a different musical direction with this song. The inspiration for the song came from the themes of passion, pain, and determination associated with Wuthering Heights, as well as the English landscape and its elements.
Drawing inspiration from Todd Haynes' documentary on The Velvet Underground, Charli XCX reached out to John Cale to work on "House." Cale's perspective on music being both elegant and brutal resonated with Charli, leading to a creative collaboration that resulted in a poignant and emotional track. The process of exchanging ideas and recording with Cale brought a unique touch to the song that moved Charli to tears.
"House" marks Charli XCX's return to music after a year-long hiatus since her last album, Brat, and its companion release. The song signals a new chapter in her musical journey, as she delves into different genres and collaborations. Meanwhile, Charli is also venturing into the world of cinema, with more music for Fennell's Wuthering Heights adaptation and a role in the upcoming film, The Moment, set for release in 2026. John Cale, on the other hand, continues to innovate with his 18th studio album, POPtical Illusion, released last year.
