Meet Ncuti Gatwa: The Newest Voice in Warner Bros. Animation's Bad Fairies

Ncuti Gatwa has recently been announced as the newest addition to the voice cast of Bad Fairies, an animated musical collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation and Locksmith Animation. Alongside Cynthia Erivo, who was previously cast as Jayne Staplegun, Gatwa will lend his voice to a character in this original musical comedy that follows a group of rebellious fairies as they disrupt their magical realm. The film, set to be the first release under Warner Bros. and Locksmith's partnership, is currently in production in London and is scheduled for a theatrical premiere on May 21, 2027. DNEG Animation is on board as the digital partner for the project.
Bad Fairies, written by Deborah Frances-White, is helmed by director Megan Nicole Dong and co-director Olivier Staphylas. The musical's songs are being crafted by the Tony Award-winning duo Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, with Isabella 'Machine' Summers from Florence + The Machine contributing to the score. Ian Eisendrath, known for his work on KPop Demon Hunters, serves as the executive music producer for the film. The production team, led by Carolyn Soper, includes editor Sim Evan-Jones, cinematographer James C.J. Williams, character designer Uwe Heidschötter, heads of story Rikke Asbjoern and Chris Garbutt, and production designers Justin Hutchinson-Chatburn and Mike Redman.
Represented by Curtis Brown, UTA, Status PR UK, and Ziffren Brittenham LLP, Ncuti Gatwa's role in the upcoming animated musical adds to the anticipation surrounding Bad Fairies. With a talented creative team and a star-studded voice cast, the film promises to deliver a magical and entertaining experience for audiences when it hits theaters in 2027.
