Gabriel Bortoleto's Dramatic Crash at Brazil Grand Prix Sprint Race

Gabriel Bortoleto was involved in a dramatic crash during the Brazil Grand Prix sprint race while attempting to overtake Alex Albon. The incident occurred on the final lap at Turn 1 of the Interlagos track, resulting in a heavy impact that caused significant damage to Bortoleto's Sauber car.

As Bortoleto tried to pass Albon in the Senna S section, he lost traction due to his car's DRS closing and struggled on the damp asphalt off the racing line. The car spun, hitting the inside of Turn 1 before colliding with the outside wall, breaking the steering column and scattering debris across the track.

The debris from Bortoleto's car caused trouble for Albon, who had some of it stuck under his car, affecting his race and forcing him to finish in 15th place. Bortoleto, on the other hand, managed to walk away from the crash but was taken to the medical center for evaluation, and his car will require extensive repairs before the grand prix qualifying session.

Currently, Bortoleto is in 19th place in the drivers' standings with 19 points, trailing behind Pierre Gasly of Alpine by just two points and his teammate Nico Hulkenberg by 22 points. The team faces a race against time to repair Bortoleto's car and ensure his participation in the upcoming qualifying session, which is crucial for his position in the championship standings.
