Dark Star Orchestra: Capturing the Magic of the Grateful Dead Live Experience

Sandy Troy, a lawyer from San Diego, first experienced the Grateful Dead live in 1969 and eventually attended over 200 shows. Drummer Dino English also had a transformative experience at a concert in 1991, leading him to join the Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra. The band, named after the Dead's iconic song "Dark Star," is known for authentically recreating Grateful Dead shows and will be performing at Rutland’s Paramount Theatre on November 13. With a catalog of around 500 songs spanning various genres, Dark Star Orchestra captures the essence of the Dead's improvisational spirit without impersonating them. The band offers a unique opportunity to experience the magic of a Grateful Dead concert, even for those who never had the chance to see the original band live.
