High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest: Drag Racing Suspects Apprehended in Memphis

A man and woman were apprehended following a high-speed chase that originated in Memphis and extended into DeSoto County. Tennessee Highway Patrol officers observed the suspects engaging in drag racing on Getwell. Jasmyne Long, 26, and Joshua Hines, 25, face charges of felony evading, felony drag racing, and reckless driving. They are currently detained in the Shelby County Jail. The state trooper spotted a Camaro and a Mustang speeding towards him on Getwell near Knight Arnold. Despite pursuing them at speeds exceeding 100 mph, both vehicles managed to elude the officer. A THP aviation unit located the cars heading south on Getwell before turning onto Starlanding Road in Southaven. DeSoto County deputies eventually intercepted the drivers, identified as Long and Hines, who confessed to drag racing on Getwell. Long and Hines are facing charges in Shelby County, with Hines also being charged with DUI in DeSoto County and Long with possession of marijuana.
