Peloton Bike+ Recall: Safety Alert and Repair Information

Peloton is issuing a recall for its original Bike+ model due to reports of the seat post breaking and detaching during use, resulting in two injuries. This recall affects 833,000 units sold between January 2020 and April 2025. Peloton has stopped manufacturing these bikes since 2022. Consumers are advised to stop using the bikes immediately and contact Peloton for a free repair, which includes a new seat post that users can install at home.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported two injuries related to the seat post issue, prompting the recall. Peloton has received a total of three reports regarding this problem. The cost of replacing the seat posts amounted to at least $40 million during the company's fiscal 2023 fourth quarter. CEO Peter Stern is focused on restoring growth and overcoming the challenges Peloton has faced, including changing consumer trends and previous recalls, such as the one for the Tread+ treadmill in 2021 following a tragic incident.
