‘NSync Biopic Plans Abandoned: Justin Timberlake's Control Demands Halt Movie Project

The iconic boy band ‘NSync had been considering creating a movie to tell their official story, but plans for the project have now been abandoned. Talks about the film began in 2023 after the band released their first song in 20 years, "Better Place," which generated significant interest and sparked the idea for the movie. However, as of now, the project is not moving forward.

One of the main reasons for the project's halt is reported to be Justin Timberlake's desire for a certain level of control over the film. Timberlake allegedly wanted to be the executive producer while the other band members would serve as producers, a point of contention that could not be resolved. The band had hoped to release the movie in time for their 30th anniversary in October, but that milestone passed without any progress on the film.

Reports of a potential ‘NSync biopic surfaced in January, with producer Neal H. Moritz shopping the film to studios and meeting with all five members to secure their involvement. Timberlake was said to be close to a deal to serve as an executive producer, but issues arose with getting the entire band to agree on the biopic, as they have different managers and conflicting schedules.

The band's plans for a reunion tour were also put on hold indefinitely due to Timberlake's solo commitments and health issues. Despite being closer than ever to reuniting for a stadium tour, the group decided not to proceed without Timberlake, who has been dealing with health challenges. ‘NSync, known for hits like "Tearin’ Up My Heart" and "Bye Bye Bye," last toured as a quintet in 2002 but has reunited for special occasions over the years, including at the MTV Video Music Awards and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
