Rush Reunion Tour 2026: Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson's Journey to Reconnect Through Music

Geddy Lee, the bassist of Rush, revealed that a spa retreat played a crucial role in the band's decision to embark on a reunion tour in 2026. The idea of reuniting had been discussed before, but concerns about guitarist Alex Lifeson's health had put those plans on hold. However, a friend suggested a clinic in Europe that could help Lifeson with his health issues, prompting both musicians to embark on a journey to improve their well-being.
After spending time at the health resort in Austria, Lifeson and Lee experienced positive changes in their health and outlook. Lifeson's weight loss and improved health condition gave him the confidence to consider doing shows again. This led to the surprise announcement of a 12-date reunion tour, which quickly expanded to 58 shows due to overwhelming fan demand.
Initially, the plan was to book arena dates in major cities as an experiment to test their physical endurance. However, the success of the initial shows led to Rush's management proposing additional concert dates, which Lee and Lifeson eventually agreed to. Despite the challenges and the absence of their late drummer Neil Peart, the band is determined to deliver an unforgettable tour experience.
The Fifty Something tour will kick off in Inglewood, Calif., on June 7, 2026, and conclude with two nights in Vancouver on Dec. 15 and 17. Along the way, Rush will visit various cities in the U.S. and Canada, including Toronto, Montreal, and Edmonton. The band has been rehearsing with drummer Anika Nilles, who will be filling in for Peart, and plans to include a wide selection of songs in their setlist.
While the absence of Peart is deeply felt, Lee and Lifeson are committed to honoring his legacy and delivering a memorable tour experience for their fans. Despite the challenges and uncertainties in the world, Lee remains optimistic about the reunion and the opportunity to share their music once again. The band's dedication to their craft and their friendship has only grown stronger through this experience.
