Undeadpool: The X-Virus Chronicles

The recent Age of Revelation event has brought significant changes to the X-Men, turning two Marvel heroes into monsters and giving rise to a terrifying new X-Force. The cause of these transformations is the X-Virus, a contagion created by the Mutant leader Revelation. Blamed on the anti-Mutant organization 3K, the X-Virus either kills or mutates those exposed to it, enhancing or altering the powers of some Mutants and superhumans. For two X-Men, the X-Virus has a degenerative effect, turning them into monstrous versions of themselves.

One of the affected heroes is Wade Wilson, whose encounter with the X-Virus causes a split in his already erratic brain. His subconscious, responsible for normal biological functions, shuts down, leaving only reflexes and hunger. Meanwhile, his conscious mind remains active but unable to control his actions fully. Deadpool becomes a zombie-like creature, known as Undeadpool, in the aftermath of the X-Virus outbreak.

Undeadpool #1, written by Tim Seeley and illustrated by Carlos Magno, delves into Wade's disturbing transformation. The issue follows Undeadpool as he preys on a group of young superheroes seeking refuge in the same summer camp he occupies, fleeing Revelation's territory. The comic explores the dark humor of Undeadpool's inner monologue, reminiscent of classic slasher horror villains like Jason Vorhees, culminating in a surprising twist that reveals the X-Virus's impact on another X-Men member, Cable.

The X-Virus weakens Cable, allowing the techno-organic virus within him to take control. The result is a conflicted being with remnants of Nathan Summers' personality, now aligned with the Technarchy. Cable, driven by a desire to infect other Mutants, sees himself as a mentor to young heroes, shaping them into a new X-Force. This sets the stage for a showdown between Cable and Undeadpool, former allies turned into different kinds of zombies by the X-Virus.

Undeadpool #1 is now available for purchase at comic book stores, offering readers a chilling glimpse into the twisted world of the X-Men during the Age of Revelation.
